Happy New Year

Well, Happy New Year to everyone. Although I do maintain the tradition of staying up to see the new year, I'm way too old to actually party while doing so.

After spending part of the day lining out a few new projects for '08, I did spend the afternoon in the old sketch book. I figure what better way to start the new year than drawing.

I have been thinking about two ball players in particular the last few weeks. One of the players is the Japanese Hall of Famer Victor Starffin. Starffin, the Russian born pitcher, became Japan's first 300-game winner. Victor met his untimely demise by hitting a train with his car.

The second player is Al Demaree. Al, a pitcher for the Giants and the '10 Lookouts. After his retirement from baseball, Demaree became a sports cartoonist.
